Roki's Filthy 5K Night! Muncy Bomb Seals 2-1 W

Man, what a nail-biter — I had a beer in hand and sweaty palms the whole way through.

Roki, filthy again today

Starter Roki was outstanding. Faced 22 batters, allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk, struck out 5 — and zero homers allowed against that Yankees lineup, which is no joke. Topped out at 102 mph and averaged 94 mph, so the stuff is not backing off at all, which is scary good. Mixing in that forkball with a nice tempo, it was just comforting to watch. Roki flat-out got the job done tonight.

Ohtani didn't get the results, but the process was great

Ohtani unfortunately went hitless in this one. But look at the quality of contact — this was nowhere near bad.

In the 1st he got jammed on a grounder right away, but in the 3rd he squared one up at 108 mph, 342 ft, 43° launch angle — I was half out of my seat thinking "is that gone?!" It just got up a little too much, but that's flat-out great contact. The 6th ended in a flyout to right too, but it still came off the bat at 95.3 mph for 321 ft, and he laid off two of Cole's low breaking balls — his eyes are locked in. Then in the 8th he battled to a full count over 8 pitches before popping out — that's a hitter doing his job. Luck just isn't on his side right now, it's coming next game for sure. I want to tell him to lock in, but honestly with this kind of contact, I'm not worried one bit.

Muncy's jack was the difference-maker

The game-changer came in the 7th off Muncy's bat. He drove one down the right field line at 107.9 mph, 31° launch angle, 416 ft for a solo shot to make it 2-1. I can just picture the whole bench jumping up off that — that kind of energy even though we're not at Dodger Stadium.

Final score 2-1, road win over the Yankees in the books. Roki's gem plus Muncy's blast — that's Dodgers baseball right there, a tight, well-played win. Looking forward to Ohtani busting out any day now, he's got a huge one in him for sure. Catching the next game too — let's go!
