Ohtani Goes 0-for-5 Despite Barreling Everything, But Bats Explode for a 9-5 Win!

Man, I can't even watch this, Ohtani!! Top of the 1st, right off the bat he squares up a 106.5 mph liner that I thought was headed down the right field line — nope, right at the fielder, easy out. Are you kidding me, I thought we were about to lose the early momentum right there.

Then the bottom of the 1st, we immediately give up a 3-run bomb to Boone, down 0-2 just like that. Not gonna lie, I let out a groan. But top of the 3rd, Ohtani smokes a 112.2 mph grounder — no luck again, almost a double play — and then right after that Freeman crushes a MASSIVE 107.7 mph shot to center, 1-2! Freeman is absolutely locked in today! Then in the 5th he adds a double for another run, and we're up 3-2. THAT'S what I'm talking about!

But bottom of the 5th, De La Cruz ties it up 3-3, back-and-forth stuff, my nerves are shot. Top of the 5th, Ohtani gets the walk treatment — are you serious, they won't even pitch to him? That's basically a badge of honor at this point, they're that scared of him.

The game-changer came in the 6th — Muncy hits a 100.3 mph homer to left-center! 5-3, and we're pulling away. The bullpen holds it down, and then in the 8th the offense completely explodes. Tucker with a sac fly, then Edman rips a 105.4 mph triple! Suddenly it's 9-3 and I'm pumping my fist in front of the TV.

7th inning, Ohtani gets got again by Mayaza's sinker, into a double play — nothing you can do, that pitch was filthy. But in the 9th he squares one up again, 100.5 mph, 33 degrees, 379 feet, absolutely crushed it... caught right at the warning track. Ohtani's swing was locked in all night, the results just weren't there. Five at-bats, five hard-hit balls — that next one is coming, guaranteed.

Final score 9-5, a great win. The Phillies scratched back a bit but our offense was just too much today. Ohtani didn't get the results, but the team banked another W. Keep it rolling tomorrow, Dodgers!
